So what are the essentials of healthy living? Quite simple & elementary. Eat three meals a day, the lightest at night. Cut down on sugary stuff. Quit smoking. Go for brisk morning/evening walks. 45-60 minutes if you can manage. Learn basic stretching from YouTube & do regularly.
There's nothing wrong in gym culture as such. Just remember that you are physiologically designed to be either a meso, ecto or an endomorph, and that each comes with its own limitations. Remember that the heart is a muscle too that should NEVER be driven to fatigue.

Exercise should be treated as a tonic. You don't gulp down bottles and bottles of tonic. Similarly, 15-20 minutes of daily, mindful exercise will do wonders. It will improve your mood, give you energy, and most importantly, stave of decrepitude as you age.
