Much-needed respite from certainty and triumphalism

Assorted tweets:

Forcing kids to study is mental abuse. Just because they're not directly involved in physical labor, does not mean they're not the victim of #ChildLabour. Deduce the term further and see how kids are abused and intimidated by parents, school, religion. #WorldDayAgainstChildLabour

Wonderfull call with Meridian Uni. and the beautiful folks who are the organizing @HispanoamericaI conference. Really looking forward to presenting and engaging with everyone at the event (and wish I could be there, in-person).

“That lesser-known fact unfolded in the 1930s, when millions of persecuted Jews sought to flee the Holocaust. Thousands of miles away from Europe, the Philippines was an unlikely refuge for the Jewish people“

Plants provide the Prana for the Earth and sustain its different ecosystems. They carry both evolutionary data and connections with higher lokas. As we drive plant species into extinction we are harming global wellbeing and our own spiritual potential. https://t.co/3UNsMPUdi8

The junior doctors' association at AIIMS New Delhi has put out this really  weird letter where they say why do you cry crocodile tears about puppies  but not doctors. They sound like it's ok to kill puppies. Who is going to teach young doctors empathy and how to sound human? https://t.co/7p98RHqcD7

There's probably nothing more refreshing, vibrant as well as nostalgic than the age-old morning program 'Bhoole Bisre Geet' run by Vividh Bharati. Makes us aware of our soil, sun, air. Heritage. Nostalgia has a deep-rooted link with culture and aesthetics. Great going!💐

Also I am not questioning Vedanta. I know about these philosophies. But the thing is to look the things from a different perspective. We have to open our mind to look the things differently. If you remember, I also had a different view about Konarka and Udayagiri caves.

Not an expert, but my feeling is that Odisha can't be understood without linking it to Egypt and Indonesia. Interpreting language and culture in isolation would be an error. Overdose of hubris around any deity, or even political figure, can distort an objective search for truth.

@smitabarooah Not ignoring low-followers but serious handles dispensing authentic information despite certain politically unpalatable opinion is also important. Throwing the baby out with the bath water needs to be avoided to create a level playing field. https://t.co/8rHp8Iu0Dh

You want Sri Aurobindo as the Lord of your life? Then throw away religions. Religion and Sri Aurobindo are two different things.

"Joy Sri Aurobindo" will be the universal incantation! But it will take some time---when religions are thrown away by Man!

When one takes up Sri Aurobindo  seriously one starts breaking all old misconceptions n  prejudices n  narrow religious  beliefs. Sri Aurobindo means freedom frm religionism n a search for harmony, a way to human unity.
https://twitter.com/GoutamGhosal2/status/1138615792906297344?s=19
It is the psychic opening in Man that initiates "brotherhood of the soul." That is a key phrase in The Ideal of Human Unity.
By virtue of his large integral vision Sri Aurobindo can enter into any discourse, material n spiritual. We have to take him out of the limited circle to the vast fields of life, where all can participate in his all-embracing knowledge. All material problems  can be solved.

Hey @Bhaktirassagar This guy Debashish Banerji is saying Rudra is an outsider God, who visited like a storm to attack the settlers & hence hymns to appease him in Rigveda. I Think this points to Āryan Invasion.

Tamil Nadu politics is a great example of how one categorical error (distinct Dravidian identity as opposed to invading northernes) can produce a series of ridiculous theories, none of them having any grounding in history!
It is like the inflationary model of stupidity. https://t.co/V8OPRrv0aW

Heard at the bar: “The best thing to have happened in #CricketWorldCup2019 is the return of unpredictability, providing much-needed respite from certainty and triumphalism. In the land of its birth, cricket is back to its roots as a game of “glorious uncertainties”!” https://t.co/bA05e5d5RW

I saw this link a few minutes ago on Twitter but cannot now find the post. But here is a wonderful review article on how we (should not) read scriptural texts in any religion, and the politics embedded in our ways of reading.
