Veda as Vedanta Living and Singing
Let me try a Vedantic example to show how the adhyatmik emerges out of the beautiful poetry of the Veda
This is a thought experiment
Imagine you are the water in the body of the ocean. How do you see a wave? Or shall we say, you yourself as a wave?
Language collapses, doesn’t it? Now only poetry or music can describe the experience of the water that is you. It is you but you have taken a particular form and movement, आकार-गति
Are you with me so far? There is no difference between the water and the wave except that the water has taken a unique appearance within the body of the water
Thus, the adhyatmik insight no longer separates the seer and the seen, the knower and known. The seer is the seen. The knower is the known. Agni and Mitra are all the unfolding of a Reality that is One. Does this make sense?

Our Western Civilization already has the values needed for this world: the dignity of the individual, freedom, property, merit, voluntary cooperation and human creativity. When people are scarce, you don’t need fear to control them. You need to attract them, trust them, empower them and let them build. Free people rather than prisoners of fear. Positive emotions rather than negative ones. Courage, hope and creation – rather than fear, envy and resentment. A completely different society. A completely different architecture of human relations.

In 'In Defence of Vulgarity', Sandeepan examines the emergence of vulgarity as a language of dissent in India’s July 2026 youth protests. Drawing parallels with May 1968 in France, the article situates the protests within the growing precarity of students, workers and young people. It argues that memes, slang, humour and provocative expressions can function as forms of political dissensus, particularly when conventional avenues of debate are constrained. Drawing on Jacques Rancière and examples from India and elsewhere, Sandeepan considers how vulgar aesthetics challenge established political conventions and create alternative spaces for expression. The article also reflects on the uncertain political future of this emerging form of dissent.
